The shareholders of RX/SeaPort, the Port of Antwerp-Bruges and APZI have reached an agreement on the principles of cooperation for integrating the digital platforms RX/SeaPort and NxtPort into a single unified system.
The integration will be managed under a new entity designated RX/NxtPort and represents a significant step in the ongoing digitalisation of the maritime and logistics chain at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges.
The long-term objective is the development of a single integrated platform capable of meeting current operational needs while enabling the creation of shared applications across the port community.
By consolidating resources, the partners aim to invest more efficiently in digital solutions, eliminating the parallel development of duplicate systems for common needs such as customs export, import and transit processes, which will now be coordinated across both the Antwerp and Zeebrugge communities.
Sector-specific requirements will continue to receive dedicated attention. RoRo and ferry applications developed under RX/SeaPort will be maintained and evolved in consultation with relevant user groups, with the interests of these sectors safeguarded within the broader platform structure.
Sounding boards with the private port community will remain central to shaping and prioritising the platform’s development roadmap.
William Demoor, Chief Customer Relations Officer at the Port of Antwerp-Bruges, described the integration as an essential first step toward a fully digitalised supply chain with impact extending beyond the port’s own boundaries.
Marc Adriansens, Chair of APZI, highlighted the scale and investment capacity created by the consolidation as the foundation for realising the port community’s digital ambitions.
Kristian Vanderwaeren, Administrator-General of Customs and Excise, emphasised the mutual benefit of aligning logistics and customs processes digitally, improving both handling efficiency and customs oversight of the logistics chain.
