Port Saint John released its 2025 Annual Report highlighting the completion of major infrastructure investments alongside record performance across its container and cruise segments.
The port handled 239,364 TEUs of container cargo in 2025, a 29.4% increase over 2024, alongside 25.4 million metric tonnes of liquid bulk and 1.3 million metric tonnes of dry bulk.
The cruise sector recorded a record season with 196,000 passengers across 83 vessel calls, reflecting the continued diversification of the port’s cargo and passenger base.
The year’s central achievement was the completion of the CA$ 247 million West Side Modernization Project, which delivered expanded terminal capacity, a new berth, strengthened intermodal connections and the capability to handle more than four times the port’s previous container volumes.
Craig Bell Estabrooks, President and CEO of Port Saint John, described 2025 as a defining year for the organisation, noting that the completed modernisation project, combined with strategic partnerships and a diversified cargo base, positions the port to support long-term trade growth and Canada’s global market access.
The year also saw Port Saint John join the Gemini Cooperation network, expanding its container shipping connectivity, and break ground on Americold’s CA$ 100 million import-export hub, further strengthening the port’s capabilities across temperature-controlled, agri-food, breakbulk and containerised trade segments.
