Rhenus Group and COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish a strategic partnership at Rhenus Cuxport in Cuxhaven, Germany.
The agreement aims to combine Rhenus’ port and logistics expertise with COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers’ fleet of more than 200 specialised vessels to strengthen project cargo, heavy-lift and specialised transport services.
Under the partnership, the two companies will develop integrated logistics solutions covering breakbulk cargo, vehicles, heavy-lift shipments, semi-submersible cargo and end-to-end distribution services.
Rhenus will contribute its terminal infrastructure, warehouses, rail connections, barge services and transport fleet in Cuxhaven. COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers plans to deploy its multipurpose vessel fleet at the German terminal as part of the cooperation.
The partners also aim to improve digital integration between port and shipping operations to enhance supply chain efficiency and visibility.
“Our strategic partnership with COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers is founded on a shared ambition to respond to customer needs with even greater speed and precision,” said Andreas Stöckli, Member of the Management Board of Rhenus Group.
“By combining our expertise in project cargo, heavy-lift and specialised transport solutions with our partner’s vessel fleet, we will expand route connections and terminal capacities over the long term.”
According to Zhang Wei, Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers, Europe remains one of the company’s most important strategic markets.
He said the partnership will support the development of more efficient and resilient logistics corridors while expanding the company’s service network across Northwestern Europe, the Mediterranean and the Black Sea region.
The agreement is also expected to create new opportunities for Rhenus Project Logistics by supporting increasingly complex cargo movements across Europe.
