Dr. Raid Al Rubaiey will assume the role of CEO of SOHAR Port and Freezone effective October 11, succeeding Emile Hoogsteden, who has held the position for more than four years.

SOHAR Port and Freezone is a joint venture between the Port of Rotterdam Authority and the Sultanate of Oman’s ASYAD Group.

Dr. Al Rubaiey currently serves as Deputy CEO of SOHAR Port and CEO of SOHAR Freezone, bringing extensive knowledge of the organisation and the region to the role. Fabio Grandchamp has been appointed Deputy CEO of SOHAR Port and Freezone.

Grandchamp previously served as Chief Operating Officer of the Port of Pecém in Brazil, where the Port of Rotterdam Authority is also a shareholder. Emile Hoogsteden will remain associated with the Management Board and Supervisory Board of SOHAR Port and Freezone in an advisory capacity until the end of the year.

Boudewijn Siemons, CEO of the Port of Rotterdam Authority, expressed confidence in both appointments, citing their extensive knowledge of the organisation, the region and the international port sector as strong foundations for driving continued growth at SOHAR.

He also acknowledged Hoogsteden’s leadership over the past four years, during which SOHAR achieved strong growth and further consolidated its position as an international logistics and industrial hub.
