OOCL boosts fleet with new eco-friendly Ultra Large Container Vessel

Orient Overseas Container Line (OOCL) announced the introduction of its latest mega container ship, named OOCL Abu Dhabi.

This addition marks OOCL’s eighth eco-friendly vessel with box capacity of 24,188 TEUs, further enhancing the company’s fleet structure optimization.

At a ceremony held at Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering Co., Ltd. (DACKS) shipyard, Han Lina, vice president of the Supply Chain Management Center at Jiangsu Runergy New Energy Technology, had the honour of naming the vessel and offering her blessings.

OOCL Abu Dhabi is the fourth of six 24,188 TEU newbuildings to be delivered to OOCL by DACKS. At the event, Junguang Xiao, Group Legal Advisor and Director of OOCL thanked DACKS for consistently building vessels of the top quality for OOCL.

Xiao stated, “With the continuous delivery of new vessels, more and more ships carrying the plum blossom logo of OOCL are sailing on the sea, marking the continued upgrading of the fleet structure of OOCL and the group. Looking ahead, we will continue to bring better and greener integrated end-to-end logistics services to our customers. As always, we are also looking forward to working with all our customers and business partners to grow together and to create higher value through win-win cooperation.”
