“K” Line completes delivery of two LNG carriers for PETRONAS LNG

Puteri Johor LNG carrier

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” Line) has completed the delivery of two new liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers for PETRONAS LNG Ltd. (PLL).

The company delivered Puteri Johor on 29 May 2026 and Puteri Kedah on 30 June 2026. Both vessels were built by Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China and are owned by joint venture companies of K Line.

The two LNG carriers were officially named during a ceremony held at the shipyard on 30 April 2026.

The names reflect Malaysia’s heritage. “Puteri” means “princess” in Malay. Johor is Malaysia’s southernmost state, while Kedah is located in the northwest of Peninsular Malaysia.

K Line said the two vessels will strengthen PETRONAS LNG’s fleet and support the reliable transportation of LNG to customers worldwide.

The company continues to expand its LNG business as part of its medium-term management strategy.

K Line has identified LNG shipping as one of its priority investment areas. The company plans to expand its portfolio of long-term contracts while meeting growing global demand for LNG transportation.
