The CMA CGM Group has agreed to acquire FedEx Supply Chain, a subsidiary of FedEx Corp., in a deal valued at US$1.4 billion.
The acquisition will significantly expand the North American contract logistics business of CEVA Logistics, CMA CGM’s logistics subsidiary.
The deal will nearly triple CEVA’s contract logistics operations in North America.
After the acquisition, the combined business will operate around 150 warehouses dedicated to contract logistics. CEVA’s overall North American network will expand to more than 240 locations. The company will employ around 20,000 people across the region.
CMA CGM said the acquisition supports its strategy to provide integrated end-to-end logistics solutions. It also reinforces the group’s long-term investment in the United States.
The two companies also plan to strengthen their commercial relationship.
CMA CGM is expected to become a preferred, non-exclusive ocean carrier for FedEx. In addition, the companies plan to collaborate on selected air cargo capacity. They aim to improve aircraft utilisation and strengthen their global transport networks.
Rodolphe Saadé, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CMA CGM Group, said the acquisition marks an important step in the expansion of CEVA Logistics in North America.
He said the deal will strengthen the group’s ability to provide integrated supply chain solutions. It will also support more resilient and efficient supply chains across the United States.
Raj Subramaniam, President and Chief Executive Officer of FedEx, said the transaction will allow the company to focus on strategic sectors such as healthcare, automotive, aerospace and data centres.
He added that the partnership with CMA CGM will support the future growth of FedEx Supply Chain while helping FedEx execute its long-term strategy.
The acquisition is expected to close in 2026, subject to regulatory approvals. The ocean and air freight agreements will be introduced in phases through 2028.
