DHL to invest EUR160 million in France to expand logistics and decarbonization efforts

DHL Group will invest around EUR160 million in France between 2026 and 2027.

The company will use the funding to expand logistics capacity, upgrade infrastructure and accelerate decarbonization efforts.

This investment will bring DHL’s total investment in France to nearly EUR900 million between 2018 and 2027.

DHL announced the investment during the Choose France Summit.

“France is a vital logistics hub at the heart of Europe and a key market for DHL Group,” said Tobias Meyer, CEO of DHL Group.

He said the investment will strengthen infrastructure, expand capabilities and support lower-emission logistics operations.

The investment covers all DHL divisions operating in France.

DHL Express will invest in fleet modernization, electrification, charging infrastructure and operational equipment.

The division has completed 20 real estate projects since 2018. These include the Paris Charles de Gaulle Hub and the Lyon-Saint Exupéry Gateway.

DHL Global Forwarding will expand alternative fuel vehicle use and improve warehousing and cargo handling equipment.

DHL Freight will continue investing in low-emission vehicles and facilities.

The division completed six real estate projects since 2018. It plans six additional projects by 2030.

DHL Supply Chain will expand warehouse capacity in southern Paris, Orléans and Lyon.

The expansion will support demand from life sciences, healthcare, manufacturing, technology and e-commerce customers.

The company will also strengthen fourth-party logistics capabilities through its Toulouse control tower.

A significant share of the investment targets sustainability.

DHL plans to expand electric vehicle fleets and charging infrastructure.

The company will increase sustainable aviation fuel use and deploy more solar energy systems.

It also plans to increase low-carbon fuel adoption for heavy vehicles.

DHL aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across logistics operations by 2050.

“For customers who are serious about service and sustainability, DHL is the obvious choice,” Meyer noted.

DHL has operated in France since 1976.

The company said the investment reinforces its long-term commitment to supply chain resilience, industrial competitiveness and sustainable logistics growth.
