SANY's 6.25 MW wind turbine begins commercial operation in Spain

SANY Renewable Energy has commissioned its first 6.25 MW wind turbine in Spain. The milestone marks the first commercial deployment of a Chinese-built 6.25 MW wind turbine in the country.

The SI-172625 turbine entered commercial operation at the Zuera Autoconsumo project. The project now supplies renewable electricity for local self-consumption on the Iberian Peninsula.

SANY completed the turbine installation in eight days. The company finished commissioning three days later. It said the project highlights its delivery capabilities in the European market.

International teams worked together to manage equipment supply, transportation and installation. SANY said the project demonstrated the strength of its global operations and rapid delivery model.

JORGE PORK MEAT, S.L. invested in the Zuera Autoconsumo project. SANY provided a complete solution, including equipment supply, transportation and installation. Its local service team will also manage the project’s long-term operation and maintenance.

Before entering overseas markets, the SI-172625 turbine underwent extensive testing at several wind farms in China. SANY said the turbine proved its availability, power generation performance and ability to operate under demanding environmental conditions.

The company said the successful deployment in Spain reflects its expanding international presence. Overseas business has grown rapidly over the past two years. In 2025, SANY ranked among the top three Chinese wind turbine manufacturers for overseas order intake.

The company has completed projects in Kazakhstan, Latin America and other international markets. It said the Spain project represents another step in its expansion across Europe.

SANY also ranked among the world’s top five wind turbine manufacturers in 2025, with 15.1 GW of newly installed capacity worldwide. By the end of the year, its domestic order backlog had reached 23 GW.

The company said the Zuera Autoconsumo project demonstrates its ability to deliver, install and operate large-scale wind turbines in mature international markets. SANY added that it will continue expanding its global footprint while supporting the worldwide energy transition.
