KONGSBERG has delivered a new Vessel Traffic Services (VTS) solution for Great Belt VTS in Denmark. The system supports safe and efficient vessel traffic management through one of Europe’s busiest waterways and provides information services to ships passing beneath the Great Belt Bridge.
The contract was awarded by DALO, the Danish Ministry of Defence Acquisition and Logistics Organisation. DALO is responsible for procuring, maintaining and developing equipment, IT systems and services for the Danish Armed Forces and the Danish Emergency Management Agency.
Great Belt VTS operates in a complex maritime environment where safety and security are critical. KONGSBERG designed the solution to meet strict operational requirements, including high availability, redundancy and secure communications.
The company supplied its Foresight maritime domain awareness platform. The solution includes software developed specifically for Great Belt VTS and integrates with the existing radar and CCTV infrastructure. KONGSBERG was responsible for the complete system integration.
“The system is now fully operational, with our team providing support remotely rather than on site,” said Rune Mortensen, Project Manager at KONGSBERG. “We are pleased to see the system performing as expected in normal operations, and we are grateful for the positive collaboration with the customer throughout a demanding and highly specialized project.”
Mortensen also thanked Great Belt VTS and DALO for their cooperation during the project.
In addition to the system delivery, KONGSBERG has signed a long-term Managed Services agreement with Great Belt VTS. The agreement covers ongoing support, system reliability and lifecycle services to ensure continued operational performance.
