Wärtsilä has signed a long-term overhaul frame agreement with Swedish shipping operator Erik Thun Group to strengthen fleet reliability, sustainability, and performance.
The agreement was developed in cooperation with MF Shipping Group and covers full lifecycle support for engines and propulsion systems across the Erik Thun fleet. Wärtsilä will provide overhaul services, field services, workshop support, technical assistance, and spare parts supply.
The contract was booked in Q1 2026.
Erik Thun Group operates around 50 vessels across Northern Europe, including dry cargo ships, product tankers, and cement carriers. The company focuses on short-sea shipping and continues to modernize its fleet with more efficient and sustainable vessels.
Henrik Källsson, Deputy Managing Director at Erik Thun Group, said the agreement supports the company’s long-term operational goals.
“This agreement reflects our commitment to reliable operations and continuous improvement,” he said. “We continue to introduce new and more sustainable vessels, and Wärtsilä’s expertise plays an important role.”
Wärtsilä will deliver maintenance for 4-stroke medium-speed engines, propulsion systems, and shaft line equipment. The company will also provide workshop reconditioning services to restore components to OEM standards.
Field services will help reduce vessel downtime through preventive maintenance. Spare parts supply will ensure consistent operational performance across the fleet.
Stefan Wiik, Vice President of Parts & Field Service at Wärtsilä Marine, said the partnership supports the industry’s shift toward lifecycle-based service models.
“We can improve fleet reliability, reduce downtime, and simplify overhaul planning,” he said. “As shipping decarbonises, lifecycle support becomes essential for performance and compliance.”
The agreement strengthens a long-standing partnership between Wärtsilä and Erik Thun Group, supporting operational continuity and long-term efficiency across Northern European shipping routes.
