Schedule reliability improves, Maersk and Hamburg Süd top rankings

Sea-Intelligence published issue 146 of the Global Liner Performance (GLP) report, which includes schedule reliability figures from January to September 2023.

According to the analysis, in September 2023, global schedule reliability rose by 1.2% points M/M to 64.4%. Apart from the May increase, schedule reliability has been within 2% points since March 2023.

On a Y/Y basis, schedule reliability was 19% greater. The average late vessel arrival delay fell by 0.09 days M/M to 4.58 days. With the M/M drop, the average delay for late vessel arrivals is currently 1.30 days less than it was last year at this time.

Maersk and its subsidiary Hamburg Süd were the most reliable carriers, with a 71.3% schedule reliability score in September, followed by MSC with 69.8%.

Six more carriers, along with MSC, achieved a schedule reliability of 60%-70%. Four other carriers had schedule reliability of 50%-60%, with HMM being the only carrier with less than 50%, at 45.9%.

In September, ten of the top fourteen carriers saw a M/M increase in schedule reliability score, with PIL achieving the largest gain of 7.3% points. On a year-over-year basis, 13 of the 14 carriers have been improved by double digits, with Hamburg Süd showing the largest growth of 26.8%.
