RIKON delivers two more heavy-duty portal cranes to Turkey

RIKON completed the commissioning of two RPS-1100 portal cranes at the Port of Riga ahead of delivery to one of Turkey’s top 100 industrial enterprises.

The cranes will be transported fully assembled by heavy-lift vessel, allowing the customer to integrate the equipment into operations immediately after arrival.

The latest delivery follows RIKON’s recently completed Isdemir Port project for OYAK Group and strengthens the company’s presence in Turkey’s port sector.

Each RPS-1100 crane weighs 430 tons and is designed for a service life of up to 40 years.

The cranes will operate at a specialised terminal handling up to 14.5 million tons of cargo annually and serving vessels up to 110,000 DWT.

RIKON said its teams completed assembly work during one of Latvia’s coldest winters in decades to maintain delivery schedules and quality standards.

The cranes feature a lattice-style portal structure designed for durability and lower maintenance costs. The design allows faster replacement of the slewing bearing system using standard market components instead of custom-built parts.

The equipment supports both hook and grab operations with lifting capacity up to 50 tons.

The cranes are also designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -10°C to +50°C and withstand wind gusts up to 43 m/s.
