Rhenus has opened a new cross-dock warehouse in Kaunas, Lithuania, to strengthen its transport and warehousing network across the Baltic region.
The new facility covers 2,500 square metres and includes racking space for more than 2,000 EUR pallets.
Rhenus launched operations at the site on May 18, 2026.
The company will use the warehouse to handle domestic deliveries within Lithuania and groupage shipments to Latvia and Estonia.
Rhenus selected Kaunas because of its strategic location at the intersection of major transport routes. The company expects the facility to improve transport capacity and shorten delivery times across the Baltic region.
The warehouse will handle cargo moving through Rhenus’ daily road transport network between Western Europe and the Baltic states.
The opening also supports the company’s efforts to expand export volumes to key European markets.
Rhenus has introduced daily departures to Germany through the new facility. The service connects Kaunas with Hilden, the company’s European hub for road freight operations.
Rhenus has operated in Lithuania since 1990. The company currently manages logistics operations in Vilnius and Kaunas.
Its Vilnius facility covers 17,000 square metres and serves as both a logistics centre and a cross-dock warehouse for groupage, LTL and FTL shipments.
“The newly opened facility in Kaunas is a cross-dock warehouse with a dedicated racking area for storing more than 2,000 EUR pallets,” said Audrius Sungaila, General Manager of Rhenus Logistics Lithuania.
“This location will streamline distribution and improve delivery times to Lithuania and the other Baltic countries.”
Lithuania’s largest trading partners are Poland and Germany. Both countries remain key export destinations and major sources of imports.
Paweł Trębicki, Managing Director of Rhenus Road Freight – Central East Region, said the new facility will strengthen Lithuania’s role within the company’s European network.
“Thanks to the new location in Kaunas, we will integrate Lithuania even more effectively into the Rhenus international groupage network,” he said.
“Daily, direct connections via the German hub will ensure efficient distribution to Western Europe, while expanding links through the Polish hub will strengthen services to Southern Europe.”
