Pacific International Lines (PIL) has partnered with Celonis and WNS to expand its global Process Intelligence Centre of Excellence (CoE).
The partnership will support PIL’s digital transformation across 90 countries. It will also help the carrier improve visibility across its global operations.
Headquartered in Singapore, PIL operates a fleet of more than 100 container vessels.
Creating a digital twin of PIL’s operations
PIL is using the Celonis Platform to create a dynamic, real-time digital twin of its operations.
The platform will show teams how processes work across the organisation. Therefore, they can identify areas that require improvement.
Meanwhile, WNS will contribute its shipping and logistics expertise to the CoE. The company will also help integrate Celonis’ capabilities across PIL’s systems.
WNS operates as part of Capgemini.
Improving visibility and efficiency
Through the partnership, PIL expects to gain end-to-end visibility across its global shipping workflows.
The project will cover customer-facing operations and back-office processes. Moreover, process standardisation will help teams identify and resolve operational inefficiencies more quickly.
The CoE will also create a foundation for AI-driven automation. As a result, PIL aims to develop smarter and more resilient operations at scale.
“In shipping, you’re often dealing with dozens of different systems across the globe, which makes it hard to see where things are actually slowing down,” said Lionel Chatelet, Chief Commercial Officer, PIL.
“We’re using Celonis because it gives us a single, clear view of how our processes are running in real life. It’s not just about efficiency; it’s about getting to learn how to make our operations leaner and faster,” added Chatelet.
He said the project would also integrate automation and AI into PIL’s continuous improvement programme.
Supporting AI adoption
PIL plans to use process intelligence to provide its AI systems with operational context.
“PIL is demonstrating how having the right operational context improves the way the shipping industry works,” said Pascal Coubard, Vice President of APAC, Celonis.
“By giving their Enterprise AI a holistic, living model of business operations, PIL is creating the optimal conditions for it to drive real outcomes and rapid ROI,” added Coubard.
Celonis will support PIL as the carrier transforms its global operations.
Combining technology with shipping expertise
WNS will focus on turning process insights into operational changes across PIL’s organisation.
“Shipping companies like PIL need more than technology, they need the domain expertise to turn process insights into operational change,” said Jaison Augustine, Business Unit Head, Shipping and Logistics, WNS.
“The CoE we’re building together will embed that capability permanently into PIL’s organisation, giving them the foundation to continuously optimise and scale,” added Augustine.
