Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has agreed to acquire Honold International GmbH & Co. KG, strengthening its road freight network in southern Germany.
The transaction, which will take effect on 1 January 2027, covers Honold’s groupage operations in Neu-Ulm. The location will become part of Hellmann’s nationwide road transport network.
The acquisition will increase Hellmann’s locations within the German groupage network NG.network from 16 to 17, expanding its operational presence in southern Germany.
Hellmann strengthens road freight operations
The Neu-Ulm business employs approximately 150 people, whose existing employment relationships will continue unchanged following the acquisition.
Hellmann and Honold have maintained a long-standing partnership, with both companies already participating in NG.network. The Neu-Ulm facility is also an existing member of the network, allowing the business to continue operating within an established transport structure.
“With Neu-Ulm, we are specifically strengthening our road network in southern Germany and further expanding our operational presence in an important economic region for us,” said Stefan Borggreve, Chief Operating Officer Road, Rail & CEP, Hellmann Worldwide Logistics.
“The location is an ideal addition to our existing network and creates further opportunities to offer our customers high-performance and reliable groupage solutions.”
The acquisition supports Hellmann’s Forward2030 growth strategy, which includes expanding its road freight operations and strengthening connections across key European markets.
Meanwhile, Honold will concentrate more resources on its strategic growth areas, including contract logistics, logistics real estate, defence and Night Star Express.
Honold will retain ownership of the Neu-Ulm property, which Hellmann will occupy under a long-term lease agreement.
The transaction will not affect Honold’s other transport and logistics activities in Neu-Ulm or its headquarters.
Both companies intend to maintain existing relationships with customers, suppliers and transport partners while developing the Neu-Ulm operations within Hellmann’s network.
