MSC and ONE reshape Ipanema VSA

MSC Gulsun at Shanghai terminal

MSC and Ocean Network Express (ONE) will jointly operate the Ipanema VSA following the departure of Hapag-Lloyd from the current three-carrier agreement.

The existing vessel-sharing arrangement between MSC, ONE and Hapag-Lloyd will end in its present configuration. However, MSC and ONE will retain the weekly service connecting Asia with the East Coast of South America.

New Ipanema VSA starts in April

The first sailing under the new Ipanema VSA will depart Shanghai on 3 April 2027.

MSC plans to deploy additional vessels following Hapag-Lloyd’s exit. The carrier did not disclose the number or capacity of the additional ships.

The service will retain direct calls at the Brazilian ports of Santos, Paranaguá, Navegantes and Rio Grande. It will also continue serving Montevideo in Uruguay and Buenos Aires in Argentina.
