Maersk will revise its Balkan intermodal fuel fees for truck transportation across five Southeast European markets.
The updated Import Fuel Surcharge levels will apply from a Price Calculation Date of 15 October 2026 and remain in effect until further notice.
Updated Balkan intermodal fuel fees
| Country | Previous rate | New rate |
|---|---|---|
| Bosnia and Herzegovina | 14% | 17% |
| Croatia | 10% | 8% |
| Serbia | 14.5% | 14.5% |
| Slovenia | 10% | 8% |
| Montenegro | 10% | 8% |
Bosnia and Herzegovina will record the only increase, with its truck surcharge rising by three percentage points. Croatia, Slovenia and Montenegro will each move to 8%, while Serbia’s rate will remain unchanged.
Maersk attributed the Balkan intermodal fuel fees to higher global energy prices and fuel availability pressures linked to the security situation in the Middle East.
New calculation process for import bookings
From 15 October, Maersk will automatically calculate the Import Fuel Surcharge for new import bookings using the applicable rate on the Price Calculation Date.
For import shipments that are not yet covered by the PCD-based system, Maersk will continue applying the fee manually based on the delivery date, provided it has not already charged the surcharge.
The carrier said the temporary adjustments aim to maintain service continuity and secure sufficient transportation capacity across its landside network.
