KLN and SATS partner on temperature-controlled and time-critical logistics

KLN Logistics Group and SATS have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop temperature-controlled and time-critical logistics solutions.

The partnership will initially focus on Singapore before potentially expanding across the companies’ networks in Asia, Europe and the Americas.

Singapore to serve as first station

The agreement brings together KLN’s freight forwarding and logistics operations with SATS’ air cargo handling network.

As an initial step, the companies will work on two areas.

The first will focus on end-to-end temperature-controlled handling for sensitive cargo. The second will target faster handling of time-critical shipments.

Singapore will serve as the first station for the initiatives and as a potential launchpad for their wider rollout.

Companies target sensitive cargo

KLN and SATS said the partnership is designed to improve supply chain connectivity and operational efficiency.

Healthcare shipments are among the types of sensitive cargo that could benefit from the temperature-controlled services.

“For time-critical and sensitive cargo such as healthcare shipments, every touchpoint in the supply chain is critical to safeguarding patient safety and service continuity,” said Wong Siew Loong, Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of KLN.

The companies will also explore ways to improve shipment visibility and strengthen connectivity across their respective networks.

Wider rollout planned

SATS said the initial work in Singapore could eventually be scaled across the companies’ global operations.

“Singapore will be the first station for these initiatives, serving as a launchpad for solutions that can be scaled across our respective global networks,” said Martin Holme, Chief Commercial Officer of SATS.

The MoU does not specify a timetable for the wider rollout or any financial commitment associated with the partnership.
