Kalé Logistics Solutions has acquired Spanish port community and regulatory compliance provider Portel Logistics Technologies, strengthening its presence in Europe and expanding its customs and compliance capabilities.
The acquisition adds Portel’s Dedalo and Vellore platforms to Kalé’s airport and port community systems portfolio. The solutions support the electronic exchange of advance cargo information under the European Union’s Import Control System 2 (ICS2) requirements.
Kalé said the deal will help customers meet evolving customs and regulatory requirements across the air cargo and maritime sectors. Portel’s more than 350 customers will also gain access to Kalé’s broader logistics technology portfolio.
“Kalé strongly believes that e-commerce and regulation will be the key trends driving the future of the industry,” said Amar More, Co-Founder and CEO of Kalé Logistics Solutions. He added that the acquisition supports the company’s ambition to become a leading global platform for trade facilitation and logistics compliance.
Vipul Jain, Chairman of the Kalé Group, said Portel’s expertise in European regulatory mandates and strong customer relationships will strengthen Kalé’s position in the region and help customers navigate an increasingly complex compliance landscape.
Portel’s platforms help freight forwarders, ports, airports and ground handlers streamline customs processes and improve regulatory compliance by reducing manual processing.
“Joining Kalé marks an exciting new chapter for Portel, our employees and our customers,” said Angel Ramirez, President of GTD Group, Portel’s former owner.
The acquisition also gives Kalé a stronger operational footprint in Europe through Portel’s local team and customer network. The company said the deal forms part of its strategy to build a comprehensive compliance-focused technology platform for global trade.
