Hapag-Lloyd has announced a Peak Season Surcharge (PSS) for shipments from Asia and Oceania to West Africa.
The surcharge will apply to all container types for cargo loaded from May 10, 2026, and will remain in effect until further notice.
Under the new tariff structure, shipments from China, Southeast Asia and Korea to ports including Tema, Lomé, Abidjan, Cotonou, Apapa, Tincan Island and Onne will face a surcharge of USD 200 per TEU.
Cargo destined for Monrovia, Dakar, Freetown and Banjul will be subject to a USD 300 per TEU surcharge, while shipments to Conakry will incur a surcharge of USD 2,000 per TEU.
For cargo originating from Japan, Australia, New Zealand and Fiji, the surcharge has been set at USD 300 per TEU for Freetown and Monrovia, while shipments to Conakry will also be charged USD 2,000 per TEU.
