Arkas redirects Russia Express to St. Petersburg

Arkas vessel

Arkas Line has redirected its Russia Express Service (REX) from Novorossiysk to St. Petersburg, restoring Russian port coverage through the Baltic, according to DynaLiners.

The carrier initially suspended the service following the sinking of the FESCO-operated containership FESCO Yanina near Novorossiysk in August.

Under the revised configuration, Arkas has removed Novorossiysk from the REX rotation and introduced St. Petersburg as the service’s Russian gateway.

Two container ships with an average capacity of approximately 1,200 TEUs operate the service at intervals of two to three weeks.

Revised REX rotation

The updated port sequence is:

Alexandria – Mersin – St. Petersburg – Alexandria.

The change shifts the Russia Express Service away from the Black Sea while maintaining connections between Russia, Türkiye and Egypt through the Baltic port of St. Petersburg.
