Hanwha Solutions Wire and Cable Division has completed customer validation of CHBA-8241RC, an eco-friendly power cable jacket compound incorporating recycled content, and is moving forward with full-scale commercialisation following successful manufacturing trials and quality validation with cable manufacturers in the first half of 2026.
CHBA-8241RC is a high-density polyethylene-based compound containing 50% post-consumer recycled plastic content, developed using Hanwha Solutions’ proprietary technology.
The product reduces carbon emissions by approximately 34% compared to conventional alternatives while maintaining equivalent performance characteristics, enabling the production of sustainable power cables without compromising quality or reliability.
The successful commercialisation expands Hanwha Solutions’ portfolio from extra-high-voltage insulation materials to sustainable cable jacket compounds, supporting the development of lower-carbon power infrastructure across global markets.
Carlo Scarlata, CEO of Hanwha Solutions Wire and Cable Division, described the product as having demonstrated both its quality and market potential through rigorous customer validation, expressing commitment to supporting customers in manufacturing more sustainable power cables and strengthening the company’s position as a trusted materials partner in the global power infrastructure market.
