GEODIS has modernised its logistics campus in Douvrin, France, by installing a new automated sorting and order preparation system developed by BOA Concept.
The project supports a growing cosmetics customer for which GEODIS manages B2B distribution to approximately 500 retail outlets across France.
GEODIS said the investment aims to increase operational capacity, improve reliability and strengthen process security while maintaining uninterrupted operations during implementation.
The new installation includes a robotic arm that automatically places lids on reusable plastic containers, eliminating repetitive manual tasks and improving workplace ergonomics. The closed-loop reusable container system also reduces the use of disposable packaging materials.
BOA Concept’s technology operates on a “run-on-demand” principle, activating equipment only when required. According to the companies, the system can reduce electricity consumption by up to 80% compared with continuously running installations.
“We were looking for a solution capable of combining operational performance, improved ergonomics for our teams and a reduced environmental footprint,” said Emmanuel Crotet, Project Director for Contract Logistics at GEODIS France.
The installation uses BOA Concept’s Plug-and-Carry technology, enabling rapid deployment and immediate operational readiness. The system supports automated workflow management, real-time monitoring and workload balancing to improve productivity and operational flexibility.
The project also strengthens cargo security through automated lid placement and a strapping system that keeps containers sealed and protected throughout transport.
GEODIS said the Douvrin facility, one of the company’s 70 contract logistics sites in France, plays a key role in supporting several strategic customers.
