C.H. Robinson acquires DeSpir Logistics to expand high-value cargo services

C.H. Robinson has acquired DeSpir Logistics, a North American provider of secure transportation and cargo escort services for high-value and mission-critical freight.

The acquisition strengthens C.H. Robinson’s capabilities in specialised logistics segments where security, compliance and real-time visibility are essential. The company said demand for these services continues to grow as supply chains become more complex and cargo theft risks increase.

DeSpir specialises in transporting sensitive cargo, including pharmaceuticals, life sciences products, data centre equipment, aerospace components and high-value retail goods.

“With DeSpir, we’re strengthening how we help customers move freight that requires an extra layer of protection,” said Adam McDonough, Vice President of Capacity at C.H. Robinson.

The deal also expands C.H. Robinson’s network of security-focused carriers. The company said the closed-loop network relies on highly vetted drivers, specialised certifications and ongoing audits to ensure cargo security.

In addition, DeSpir brings advanced shipment monitoring capabilities, including real-time temperature tracking and cargo tampering detection. C.H. Robinson plans to integrate these tools with its Lean AI platform to improve visibility and operational performance.

“We’re taking very specific, nuanced expertise and coupling it with our scale,” said Michael Castagnetto, President of North American Surface Transportation at C.H. Robinson.

According to the company, DeSpir generated approximately US$62 million in revenue during 2025. C.H. Robinson acquired the business for approximately US$75 million in cash. The transaction closed on 22 June 2026 and is expected to be slightly accretive in 2026.
