DP World launches EcoRoute platform for supply chain performance

DP World has launched EcoRoute, a suite of integrated solutions designed to help businesses optimise supply chain performance while reducing emissions through network design, lower-carbon logistics solutions, emissions measurement and strategic partnerships.

The initiative responds to the dual pressure facing global supply chains, where freight and logistics account for approximately 10 percent of global energy-related CO2 emissions, while tightening regulations, investor scrutiny and customer expectations continue to raise the bar for supply chain performance.

EcoRoute is structured around four core components. The first focuses on optimised supply chain network design, balancing cost, speed and emissions to create more efficient and resilient operations.

In Africa, DP World’s centralised Logistics Control Tower solution helped a major retailer increase transported volumes by 45% while expanding fleet size by only 5%, improving vehicle utilisation to 88 percent and strengthening overall supply chain resilience.

The second component delivers lower-carbon logistics solutions through modal shift programmes, alternative fuel and electric transport options, and lower-carbon warehouse facilities.

In India, a multimodal rail-to-coastal solution on the Chennai to Kolkata corridor helped a customer reduce transport emissions by 78% while improving reliability and lowering logistics costs.

The third component, carbon insetting, addresses Scope 3 emissions by helping customers reduce emissions within their own supply chains rather than relying on external offsetting.

Through carbon inset programmes at Southampton and London Gateway, DP World generated more than 9,400 tonnes of verified CO2 insets across 257,000 TEU of cargo flows in 2025 alone.

The fourth component provides emissions measurement and visibility through DP World’s Carbon Emissions Calculator, powered by EcoTransIT World and aligned with ISO 14083, offering end-to-end visibility of emissions across transport modes to help customers identify reduction opportunities.

Beat Simon, DP World Group Chief Operating Officer for Logistics, framed the platform around the principle that a well-connected supply chain is inherently a more sustainable one, combining connectivity, data and operational expertise across DP World’s global network.

Ayla Bajwa, DP World Group Senior Vice President for Sustainability, described EcoRoute as a means of translating sustainability ambition into operational action, providing customers with the tools and partnerships needed to reduce emissions while delivering broader environmental and social impact across their supply chains.
