FedEx Dataworks and Stripe have announced a long-term strategic collaboration that will combine logistics data with financial infrastructure to improve access to financing for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs).
The companies plan to use operational signals from the FedEx network alongside Stripe’s financial technology. Their first joint solution is expected to launch in early 2027 and could provide financing options to tens of thousands of SMBs.
The collaboration will use supply chain intelligence from FedEx Dataworks to support financing analysis through Stripe Capital.
Shipment activity, inventory movement and fulfillment performance are among the operational signals that could help assess how businesses are performing. This approach aims to complement traditional financing assessments based primarily on financial and credit information.
Turning logistics data into financial intelligence
FedEx Dataworks draws insights from activity across the FedEx global network. The collaboration with Stripe will use these insights to provide additional context when evaluating businesses for funding.
According to the companies, real-time operational signals could allow Stripe to evaluate and deploy tailored financing more quickly.
“Every day, FedEx helps move more than $2 trillion in global commerce, giving us unique visibility into how businesses operate,” said Vishal Talwar, Executive Vice President, Chief Digital and Information Officer, FedEx Corp., and President, FedEx Dataworks.
Talwar added that FedEx Dataworks aims to use this intelligence to develop solutions that make supply chains smarter.
FedEx Dataworks has already been expanding the use of its logistics intelligence beyond traditional transportation. Earlier collaborations have focused on integrating FedEx network data into AI-powered supply chain and procurement workflows.
FedEx expands payment options
The agreement also includes a payments component. FedEx will begin using Stripe as a payment processing option and plans to add more than 50 payment methods to its checkouts.
The expansion is designed to give FedEx customers greater access to local payment methods across different markets.
“FedEx and Stripe power the physical and digital foundations of global trade,” said John Collison, Co-founder and President, Stripe. “Together, we can turn the operational momentum of a small business, like shipping a thousand packages a week, into access to growth finance through Stripe Capital.”
The two companies said the initial projects will form the foundation for additional solutions combining FedEx logistics signals with Stripe’s financial infrastructure.
