CMA CGM will introduce a Rate Restoration Initiative (RRI) for cargo moving from the West Mediterranean to the United States.

The new rates will take effect on 15 September 2026.

The RRI will apply to tariff or service contract rates within the specified trade scope.

RRI reaches US$500 for larger containers

The initiative covers shipments from West Mediterranean ports. The origin scope includes Italy, France and Morocco, as well as the Spanish Mediterranean ports of Valencia, Barcelona and Algeciras.

The destination scope covers the US East Coast, Gulf Coast and West Coast. It also includes inland destinations served via these ports.

CMA CGM will apply the following increases:

Container size RRI
20′ US$250
40′ US$500
40′ HC US$500
45′ US$500

The RRI applies to all cargo except out-of-gauge (OOG) shipments.

CMA CGM noted that bunker-related surcharges may also apply. Terminal Handling Charges (THCs), safety and security surcharges, contingency charges and other local charges may also be applicable.
