Hapag-Lloyd changes VGM billing process at UK terminals

Hapag-Lloyd vessel

Hapag-Lloyd will change the way Verified Gross Mass (VGM) charges are billed for shipments from two UK terminals.

The new billing process will take effect on 1 September 2026.

From that date, Hapag-Lloyd UK will no longer invoice VGM charges for shipments from London Gateway and Southampton.

Terminals to invoice VGM charges directly

Any applicable VGM charges will instead be invoiced directly by the respective terminal.

The change covers:

  • London Gateway (GBLGP)
  • Southampton (GBSOU)

Customers will therefore need to settle applicable VGM charges directly with the terminal.

Hapag-Lloyd said customers should also contact the relevant terminal for information about charges, payment terms and invoicing procedures.

Meanwhile, all other Hapag-Lloyd charges and invoicing processes will remain unchanged.
