
CMA CGM has notified customers of two separate surcharge implementations covering West African and East African destinations, effective from June and July 2026.
Port Congestion Surcharge – Freetown, Sierra Leone
A Port Congestion Surcharge of US$ 600 per TEU will apply to dry and reefer cargo destined for Freetown, Sierra Leone, settled with freight.
For cargo originating from all regions except North and Latin America, the surcharge takes effect from June 15, 2026.
For cargo originating from North and Latin America, the surcharge of US$ 600 per TEU takes effect from July 2, 2026.
Peak Season Surcharges – East Africa
Separate Peak Season Surcharges apply on trade lanes from China to East African ports across two effective dates. From North and Central China to Mombasa, Kenya, a surcharge of US$ 200 per TEU applies from both June 7 and June 15, 2026.
From North and Central China to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, a surcharge of US$ 400 per TEU is effective from June 15, 2026.
From North and Central China to Mogadishu, Somalia, a surcharge of US$ 400 per TEU applies from June 7, 2026. From South China to Dar Es Salaam, a surcharge of US$ 100 per TEU takes effect from June 15, 2026.
Customers with cargo moving on the affected trade lanes are advised to incorporate these surcharges into their cost planning from the respective effective dates.
