DP World and MOL plan new automotive logistics facility at Jebel Ali

DP World and Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL) have taken another step towards developing a new automotive logistics and processing facility at Jebel Ali Port in Dubai.

The companies have signed a term sheet that sets out the framework for the proposed facility. The development would expand vehicle storage capacity and provide additional processing services at the port.

The latest move builds on an earlier partnership between DP World and MOL focused on automotive logistics at Jebel Ali. The companies signed an MoU in 2023 to explore opportunities in vehicle storage, processing and distribution.

Facility to combine vehicle logistics services

Under the latest plan, the facility would bring vehicle storage, pre-delivery inspection and other value-added services together at one port-side location.

The project aims to strengthen automotive trade flows between manufacturing centres in Asia and growing markets across the Middle East and Africa.

Jebel Ali Port handled nearly 1.1 million vehicles in 2025, according to the companies.

The proposed development would therefore add infrastructure to support the continued growth of automotive trade through the Dubai gateway.

DP World and MOL advance existing partnership

The term sheet represents a further step in the companies’ existing automotive logistics partnership.

Their earlier agreement focused on studying opportunities to improve the automotive supply chain through Jebel Ali, including the storage and distribution of finished vehicles.

The new term sheet moves that cooperation towards a specific automotive logistics and processing facility.

However, DP World and MOL have not yet announced the size, investment value or construction timeline for the proposed development.
