CMA CGM and MSC have resumed routing their joint North Europe–Australasia service through the Suez Canal in both directions, according to DynaLiners.
The service is marketed as Newmo by CMA CGM and Australia Express by MSC.
The return to the shorter Suez routing will allow the carriers to reduce the number of vessels deployed on the service from 18 to 16.
The revised fleet will comprise ships with an average capacity of approximately 9,000 TEUs. Port coverage will remain unchanged.
North Europe–Australasia rotation
The service rotation is:
London Gateway – Rotterdam – Hamburg – Antwerp – Le Havre – Valencia – La Spezia – Marseille – Port Réunion – Port Louis – Sydney – Melbourne – Adelaide – Fremantle – Singapore – Ennore – Colombo – London Gateway.
The restoration of Suez Canal transits in both directions removes the longer diversion around the Cape of Good Hope and reduces the number of ships required to maintain the service schedule.
The move follows a gradual increase in Suez Canal usage by major container carriers during 2026. However, carriers continue to assess individual services and voyages according to security and operational conditions in the Red Sea region.
