ABB to acquire Høglund

aimed at expanding its automation.

ABB has signed an agreement to acquire Høglund AS, a Norway-based marine automation specialist, in a move aimed at expanding its automation offering for the maritime sector.

Headquartered in Tønsberg, Høglund provides integrated automation systems for modern vessels, covering onboard automation, monitoring and control functions. Its solutions are installed on more than 600 vessels worldwide.

The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2026, subject to customary regulatory approvals. Financial details were not disclosed.

Høglund, currently owned by Eitzen Group, employs more than 80 people across Norway, Poland, Romania and China. Following completion of the deal, the company will be integrated into ABB’s Marine & Ports division.

Høglund’s Integrated Automation System is based on ABB’s 800M and S800 control system hardware platform. The system combines data from engines, power generators and cargo systems to support vessel safety, energy efficiency and operational performance.

The company reported revenues of nearly €30 million in 2025.

“This is a significant new chapter for our people and technologies,” said Peter Morsbach, Chief Executive Officer of Høglund. “Høglund’s story is one of dedication and passion for the marine industry, and we are proud of the expertise and experience we have cultivated and the solutions we have built.”

“Our system is based on ABB technology, and we look forward to joining ABB and continuing to advance marine automation for the benefit of customers,” he added.

Rune Braastad, President of ABB’s Marine & Ports division, said Høglund’s portfolio will complement ABB’s existing marine automation offering with proven and scalable solutions.

“Combined with our global reach and service capabilities, we have a great foundation for continued success. We look forward to welcoming Høglund’s highly competent people to join us at ABB,” he said.
