ZIM strengthens Latin America network with new services

Israeli box carrier ZIM has announced the launch of two new services, ZIM Albatross (ZAT) and ZIM Gulf Toucan (ZGT), aiming to enhance its Latin America network.

Both services will be fully operated by the Haifa-based container shipping company.

The new ZIM Albatross service will provide a direct connection from and to North China, Korea, Mexico, and the West Coast of South America. The company will deploy 4,250 TEU vessels on this service, allowing operational flexibility, while connections to/from Southeast Asia and the Indian sub-continent will be made via China.

This service is expected to commence from China in December 2023.

The rotation of the ZIM Albatross (ZAT) service will be as follows:

Xingang (China) – Qingdao (China) – Shanghai (China) – Ningbo (China) – Busan (South Korea) – Lazaro Cardenas (Mexico) – Buenaventura (Colombia) – Guayaquil (Ecuador) – Callao (Peru) – San Antonio (Texas) – Busan – Xingang

Moreover, the ZIM Gulf Toucan service will connect the East Coast of South America to the Gulf of Mexico and the United States.

The Israeli container line will deploy 2,800 TEU boxships on this service. Connections to other ports in North America, the Caribbean, Central America and West Coast South America will be made via ZIM’s regional hubs.

This service will commence in January 2024.

The rotation of the ZIM Gulf Toucan (ZGT) service will be as follows:

Buenos Aires (Argentina) – Montevideo (Uruguay) – Navegantes or Itapoa (Brazil) – Paranagua (Brazil) – Santos (Brazil) – Rio De Janeiro (Brazil) – Cartagena (Colombia) – Kingston (Jamaica) – Veracruz (Mexico) – Altamira (Mexico) – Houston (Texas) – Mobile (US) – Kingston– Cartagena –Santos – Buenos Aires
