Yusen Logistics expands Italian healthcare network with new Bari hub

Yusen Logistics has strengthened its healthcare distribution network in Italy with the opening of a new logistics hub in Bari.

The facility, operated by Movianto and Eurotranspharma (ETP), became operational on 6 October 2026. It aims to improve pharmaceutical distribution across the Puglia region by reducing last-mile transport distances and delivery times.

Located at the Bari Interport, the new hub covers 1,000 square metres and features 14 loading docks.

The facility meets Good Distribution Practice (GDP) requirements and supports temperature-controlled operations at 15–25°C and 2–8°C.

New Bari hub strengthens regional distribution

From the new facility, Movianto and ETP provide daily deliveries to pharmacies, hospitals and pharmaceutical wholesalers throughout Puglia.

The hub also has daily connections with the companies’ existing facilities in Melzo, northern Italy, and the Naples area.

These connections will support the movement of pharmaceutical products between northern and southern Italy. They will also strengthen local distribution capabilities across Puglia.

“The opening of our Bari hub is an important step in strengthening our healthcare distribution network in Southern Italy,” said Gaetano Colella, Managing Director, Movianto Italy.

“Its strategic location enables us to serve pharmacies, hospitals and pharmaceutical wholesalers across the Puglia region every day, while maintaining the high quality and compliance standards our customers expect.”

Yusen Logistics expands European healthcare operations

The opening forms part of Yusen Logistics’ wider strategy to develop its healthcare logistics network across Europe.

By combining Movianto’s and ETP’s pharmaceutical distribution expertise with its broader logistics services, the company aims to offer more integrated supply chain solutions.

Bruno Jacques, CEO of Yusen Logistics Healthcare Europe and Deputy Managing Director of Yusen Logistics Europe, confirmed that the company plans further investment in Italy and other European markets.

The Bari facility adds regional distribution capacity while supporting temperature-sensitive pharmaceutical shipments.

The companies have not disclosed the investment value or the expected increase in shipment volumes resulting from the new hub.
