WinGD has secured an order to supply main engines for 12 Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCCs) being built for Dynacom at Hudong-Zhonghua Shipbuilding in China.
Each vessel will be powered by a WinGD 6X82-2.0 low-speed engine. The ships will also feature scrubbers and high-pressure selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems. These systems will ensure compliance with IMO emissions rules while improving fuel efficiency.
The order reflects strong activity in the VLCC market. Shipowners continue to invest in modern tankers to improve efficiency, reduce fuel consumption and meet stricter environmental regulations.
WinGD said the 6X82-2.0 engine offers proven reliability and high operational performance. The engine has built a strong track record among tanker operators through consistent in-service performance.
The company will also support the vessels through its global service network. Services include 24/7 operational support, WiDE remote monitoring, diagnostics and lifecycle maintenance.
Carmelo Cartalemi, General Manager of Global Sales at WinGD, said owners continue to prioritise fuel efficiency, reliability and operational performance when investing in new VLCCs.
He added that WinGD continues to expand its propulsion portfolio while developing retrofit and upgrade solutions to help customers meet future operational and regulatory requirements.
The 12-vessel programme further strengthens WinGD’s presence in the tanker market as owners continue to renew their fleets with more efficient vessels.
