WEC Lines has launched a new weekly rail connection in Spain, branded as the EBRO service, effective May 21, 2026. The service links Agoncillo in La Rioja and Zaragoza in Aragón with Barcelona, creating a seamless intermodal bridge to the carrier’s existing ESC shortsea service to the Canary Islands.

Operating with its own trains, WEC Lines offers a door-to-door solution connecting inland Spain with the Canary Islands by combining rail and shortsea transport. The new connection provides customers with fixed schedules, reliable transit times and a more sustainable alternative to road transport, running in both southbound and northbound directions.

The EBRO rail service is designed as an integral part of the ESC service, aimed at improving flexibility and supply chain efficiency across the Spain-Canary Islands corridor.
