
WEC Lines will enhance its ISS service and rename it ISS-PT from 10 September.
The renewed weekly short-sea service will strengthen connections between southern Spain and Northwest Europe. It will use Setúbal, Portugal, as a transshipment hub for import and export cargo.
WEC Lines said the enhanced service responds to demand for reliable short-sea transport. It also provides an alternative to long-distance road transportation.
ISS-PT port coverage
The ISS-PT service will connect the following ports with Setúbal and Sines in Portugal:
- Valencia
- Alicante
- Cartagena
- AlmerÃa
- Málaga
- Gibraltar
- Huelva
- Cádiz
- Nador, Morocco
Through Setúbal, customers will gain connections to WEC Lines services calling at:
- Thamesport
- Liverpool
- Dublin
- Montoir
- Antwerp
- Moerdijk
- Rotterdam
- Hamburg
Vessel deployment and equipment
WEC Lines will operate the service with two dedicated vessels of 868 TEUs each. The vessels will complete a 14-day rotation, supporting a weekly frequency.
Available equipment will include 45-foot high-cube pallet-wide containers. WEC Lines will also provide 40-foot and 45-foot reefer containers for frozen and perishable cargo.
