Trump Warns Iran ‘Clock Is Ticking’ as Peace Talks Stall

US President Donald Trump warned Iran that “the clock is ticking” as efforts to reach a peace agreement remain stalled.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump said: “They better get moving, FAST, or there won’t be anything left of them. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!”

The warning came ahead of a scheduled call with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Earlier this week, Trump described the ceasefire with Iran as being on “massive life support” after rejecting Tehran’s latest counter-proposal to end the conflict.

Trump called the Iranian response “totally unacceptable,” while Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaeidefended it as “responsible” and “generous.”

According to Iran’s semi-official Tasnim news agency, Tehran’s proposal includes:

  • An immediate end to the war on all fronts, including Israeli operations against Hezbollah in Lebanon
  • An end to the US naval blockade of Iranian ports
  • Guarantees against future attacks on Iran
  • Compensation for war damage
  • Recognition of Iranian sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz

The conflict began on 28 February when US and Israeli forces launched large-scale strikes against Iran.

A ceasefire has been in place since 8 April to support negotiations, although both sides have occasionally exchanged fire.

Pakistan continues to mediate talks between Washington and Tehran, but major disagreements remain unresolved.
