Tecon Suape, ICTSI’s container terminal operation at the Suape Industrial Port Complex in Recife, Brazil, has deployed a new Linev DTP 7500LVX container scanner as part of its continuous investment programme in security and operational capability.
The equipment is strategically positioned near the berth and fully integrated into existing terminal workflows to improve yard traffic flow and minimise unnecessary truck movement.
The scanner uses high-energy X-ray technology to generate detailed images of container contents without requiring physical inspection, enabling operators to identify irregularities in cargo density and structure for faster screening and more targeted inspections.
The system’s ability to distinguish differences in materials supports the detection of undeclared or suspicious cargo while minimising delays in container clearance.
Scanning productivity is expected to increase by up to 40%, with corresponding reductions in truck cycle times.
The installation supports more efficient coordination of quay cranes and terminal tractors by reducing equipment idle time and maintaining steady cargo flow, delivering operational benefits for shipping lines, cargo owners and logistics operators across the region.
Thomas Jefferson de Lima, CEO of Tecon Suape, described the scanner as part of a sustained investment programme to provide safe, reliable and high-quality services, and highlighted its role in ensuring compliance with customs and security requirements while keeping operations responsive and competitive.
The investment reinforces the terminal’s strategy of continuous operational improvement and supports growing customer expectations for speed, reliability and supply chain integrity.
