GXO Logistics has signed a new five-year agreement with Co-op, extending their transport partnership in the UK to more than 20 years.

The contract covers GXO’s transport operations at Avonmouth, Andover and Lea Green. The company will continue supplying more than 1,000 Co-op stores across the UK.

GXO said the renewed agreement strengthens a long-standing partnership focused on improving efficiency, service quality and supply chain resilience.

The logistics provider will continue introducing operational improvements and best practices across Co-op’s transport network. The company will also apply its expertise in fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) logistics to support future growth.

Chris Hyde, Managing Director for Food and Beverage at GXO UK & Ireland, said the renewal reflects the operational performance delivered by both companies over many years.

He added that GXO will continue working with Co-op to improve supply chain performance while supporting the communities where both companies operate.

The partnership also includes several community initiatives.

Over the past year, GXO employees have contributed more than 1,500 volunteer hours. Teams have also raised funds for charities, including Barnardo’s and the British Heart Foundation.

GXO also supports employability programmes, mentoring initiatives and apprenticeships through its collaboration with three Co-op academies.

Stuart Rendall, Head of Logistics Operations at Co-op, said the agreement will help the retailer maintain a resilient logistics network while supporting more than 2,300 stores across the UK.

The renewed contract further strengthens GXO’s position in the UK retail logistics market and reinforces its long-term relationship with one of the country’s largest convenience retailers.
