Sinotrans, part of China Merchants Energy Shipping, has placed orders for 12 containerships across three affiliated shipyards. Deliveries are set to begin in 2027, as reported by DynaLiners.
The orders are split into three batches. Four vessels of 8,200 TEU each will be built at China Merchants Heavy Industry in Jiangsu. A further four ships of 3,000 TEU will be constructed at China Merchants Jinling Shipbuilding in Nanjing. The remaining four vessels, each of 1,800 TEU, are ordered from China Merchants Shipbuilding Industry Group’s Wuhan Qingshan Shipyard.
The 12 ships represent a combined capacity of approximately 52,000 TEU, marking a significant fleet expansion programme for the Chinese carrier.
