Italian logistics group Savino Del Bene has strengthened its Iberian footprint through the acquisition of three companies from Grupo Marítima Sureste, all based in the Murcia-Almeria-Algeciras corridor of southern Spain.

The deal covers Marítima Sureste Shipping, a freight forwarding company operating from a main logistics hub of over 50,000 square metres in El Estrecho, with more than 10,000 square metres of warehouse space. The company also holds an exclusive ADIF concession for rail freight and container train management at the Nonduermas railway terminal, where it operates a 10,000-square-metre warehouse. Additional facilities sit in Cheste, Almería and Algeciras.

The acquisition also includes Marítima Sureste Spain, active in freight forwarding, and Transportes Gaypemar, which specialises in container overland transport. All three companies will remain independent entities within the Savino Del Bene Group.

Grupo Marítima Sureste handled approximately 10,000 TEUs in 2025.

“The integration significantly expands our geographical coverage and enhances our ability to offer more comprehensive and competitive logistics solutions, particularly in door-to-door services and intermodal operations,” said Gianni Bachini, Savino Del Bene Regional Director for France, Spain and Portugal. “The rail component becomes strategically relevant, enabling us to provide more efficient and sustainable alternatives to road transport.”

Savino Del Bene operates over 320 branches and 45 warehouses worldwide. It shipped 852,000 TEU by sea and 92,500 tonnes by air in 2025, posting revenue of €2.9 billion.
