The Bulgarian Shipowners Association (BSA) has joined the International Chamber of Shipping (ICS) as an Affiliate National Association Member.
Established in 2003, the BSA represents Bulgarian shipowners and promotes safe, high-quality and environmentally responsible shipping.
The association also supports its members by sharing international and national best practices across the maritime sector.
Bulgaria’s shipping industry plays an important role in the country’s economy. The sector continues to invest in eco-friendly dry bulk vessels, while the ports of Varna and Burgas remain key maritime gateways in the Black Sea.
Thomas A. Kazakos, Secretary General of ICS, welcomed the association to the organization.
“Our industry faces collective challenges, and it is through dialogue and collaboration that we can find the solutions needed to meet them.”
Captain Aleksandar Kalchev, representative of the Bulgarian Shipowners Association, said the membership will strengthen cooperation across the global shipping industry.
“In this world of geopolitical uncertainty, it is important for the entire maritime sector to be united. The transition to zero carbon emissions cannot be postponed, and the industry needs confidence that today’s investments will deliver real environmental benefits.”
