Rhenus is expanding its logistics operations in Italy with a new 10,000 sqm hub at Interporto Padova. The facility will bring together transport, warehousing and freight forwarding services in one location.
The company plans to begin moving operations to the new site in the first quarter of 2027. The move will double its covered logistics space in the Padua area from approximately 5,000 sqm to 10,000 sqm.
The new hub will combine activities currently handled at two nearby warehouses. It will also increase Rhenus’ capacity to manage domestic and international freight.
Bringing logistics services under one roof
The facility will support road transport, air and ocean freight forwarding, warehousing and specialised delivery services.
It will include 3,500 sqm for road transport operations and 3,000 sqm for Transport Related Warehousing, with space for approximately 3,000 pallets. Another 2,000 sqm will be dedicated to Special Delivery services, while 500 sqm will support the handling of dangerous goods under ADR requirements.
The site will also feature more than 30 loading bays, office space and charging facilities for electric forklifts.
Rhenus will transfer operations from its existing warehouses in Corso Spagna and Via Settima Strada. The move will take place gradually to maintain service continuity.
Strengthening connections across Europe
Interporto Padova provides access to major European transport routes, including the Mediterranean and Baltic-Adriatic corridors.
The logistics centre also benefits from road and rail connections, with access to the A4 and A13 motorways and links to Venice and Verona airports.
“With this hub, we are building on an established presence in the area and bringing different areas of expertise from the Rhenus Group under one roof,” said Guglielmo Davide Tassone, Managing Director of Rhenus Overland Italy.
The new facility will strengthen Rhenus’ operations in north-eastern Italy and support the coordination of warehouse activities with national and international transport services.
The company expects the integrated hub to improve the management of freight flows while providing additional space for future operations.
