Port of Drammen joins Portchain Connect network

The Port of Drammen in Norway has joined the Portchain Connect network.

Greenport Services, which provides terminal operations at the port, will use the digital platform to improve berth planning with shipping lines.

The system will give the terminal faster access to vessel schedules and help reduce manual communication.

Portchain Connect to improve berth planning

Portchain Connect allows terminals and shipping lines to exchange information directly.

Greenport Services will receive real-time vessel schedule and move count updates from carrier systems.

The terminal can then respond to shipping lines or suggest changes to vessel schedules.

This will help the terminal match vessel arrivals with available berthing windows.

“Portchain Connect gives us greater visibility throughout the berth planning process,” said Øystein Amundsen, Ships Agent at JAS Worldwide Norway.

He said the system would help teams coordinate vessel calls and provide a more predictable service.

The platform provides an overview of upcoming vessel calls and berthing information.

It is also designed to reduce the use of emails and other manual processes when terminals and carriers agree on berthing windows.

Portchain said this can speed up communication and improve schedule reliability.

“We are pleased to welcome the Port of Drammen to the Portchain Network,” said Thor Thorup, CCO and Co-Founder of Portchain.

He added that the company will work with Greenport Services to support more efficient berth planning at the Norwegian port.
