Pacific International Lines (PIL) has published its Sustainability Report 2025, outlining progress across its fleet, operations and global business functions.
The report, titled Navigating a Changing World, covers the carrier’s environmental, social and governance initiatives during 2025.
LNG vessels reach 19% of fleet capacity
Fleet renewal remained a central part of PIL’s decarbonisation strategy. The carrier welcomed six LNG dual-fuel vessels into service under its 14,000 TEU and 8,200 TEU newbuilding programmes.
The ships feature energy-efficiency technologies, shore power capability and systems designed to reduce methane slip.
By the end of 2025, LNG dual-fuel vessels represented 19% of PIL’s fleet capacity by TEU. The investments support the company’s target of achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Safety and workforce initiatives advance
PIL obtained ISO 45001 certification covering its Singapore headquarters and fleet management system. It also audited its global offices against workplace safety requirements.
Furthermore, the company completed its first comprehensive Labour and Human Rights Risk Assessment. The assessment covered shore-based employees, seafarers and suppliers.
PIL also conducted living-wage benchmarking across its global operations and developed action plans to address identified gaps.
Cybersecurity and procurement strengthened
The carrier achieved ISO 27001 certification for its information security management system. It also conducted a Board-level cybersecurity exercise to test crisis response and business continuity procedures.
Meanwhile, the introduction of ProcureSMART at PIL’s headquarters established a stronger framework for supplier onboarding and due diligence.
EcoVadis awarded PIL a Gold Medal for its December 2025 assessment, placing the company among the top 5% of organisations evaluated.
“Sustainability is a journey of continuous improvement and not one we undertake alone. We are proud of the progress made in 2025 but recognise that more remains to be done. The challenges facing our industry require collaboration, innovation, discipline and persistence,” said Lars Christian Kastrup, Chief Executive Officer of PIL.
PIL prepared the report with reference to the GRI Universal Standards 2021 and IFRS S2 Climate-related Disclosures. It also serves as the company’s annual United Nations Global Compact Communication on Progress.
