ONEX Shipyards & Technologies Group has signed an agreement with Antipollution, part of V Group, to design and build four eco vessels in Greece, with options for four additional units.
The agreement was signed during Posidonia 2026 in the presence of Greek Minister of Shipping and Island Policy Vasilis Kikilias.
The project marks another step in Greece’s efforts to strengthen its shipbuilding sector and expand domestic vessel construction capabilities.
ONEX will design and build the vessels entirely in Greece.
The company will use its shipyards in Elefsina and Syros for the project.
The vessels will receive classification from American Bureau of Shipping (ABS).
The ships will support waste collection from vessels and transport waste to shore facilities.
The design follows MARPOL environmental requirements.
The vessels will also operate during marine pollution incidents and maritime emergencies.
ONEX said the agreement strengthens its position in the specialized vessel segment.
The company recently expanded its newbuilding activities following tugboat construction projects for Megatugs.
The latest project adds eco vessels to its growing portfolio.
“The agreement with Antipollution sends a clear message: ONEX has the strength, infrastructure and know-how to design and build in Greece any specialized vessel required by the global market,” said Panos Xenokostas, Founder and President of ONEX Shipyards & Technologies Group.
He added that Greece is not only following developments in green shipping but helping shape them through domestic shipbuilding.
The company said the project will support local industry, create jobs and strengthen the role of Elefsina and Syros as shipbuilding centers.
The agreement also aims to increase investment retention within Greece and strengthen the country’s maritime ecosystem.
