Nippon Express Logistics Thailand has signed a Memorandum of Understanding on sustainability and corporate social responsibility with Thai Bridgestone, formalising a collaboration focused on used tire management, resource circulation, road safety and nature conservation.
The agreement was signed on June 17, aiming to contribute to the resolution of social and environmental issues across the value chain and the realisation of a sustainable society.
The collaboration’s primary focus is the proper, safe and environmentally responsible management of end-of-life tires under a circular economy framework.
Retreadable tires will be channelled into retreading processes, while other end-of-life tires will be directed to appropriate recycling streams, preventing improper reuse, ensuring safety and reducing environmental impact.
The partnership also includes joint study and development work on analysing tire conditions and causes of removal, with the aim of enhancing tire utilisation efficiency, extending tire lifespan and improving retread suitability.
As part of their combined CSR activities, the two companies plan to engage in the B-SAFE road safety awareness programme in collaboration with the Saraburi Branch of the Department of Land Transport, alongside nature and biodiversity conservation activities at Phu Khae Botanical Garden.
Akihito Ishii, Managing Director of Thai Bridgestone, described the agreement as an important milestone in strengthening the business relationship toward sustainability and social contribution, emphasising that climate change and resource management require collaborative solutions.
Masato Tanabe, President of NX Logistics Thailand, framed the MOU as the beginning of a new chapter in the partnership, reflecting a shared commitment to creating long-term value for society and contributing meaningfully to local communities.
