NFI has appointed Jay Schmidt as Senior Vice President of Intermodal.
In his new role, Schmidt will oversee the company’s intermodal operations across the United States, Canada and Mexico.
NFI said the appointment supports its strategy to strengthen intermodal services and expand customer relationships across North America.
Chief Executive Officer Sid Brown said Schmidt brings extensive rail and intermodal expertise along with a proven track record of driving growth and operational performance.
Before joining NFI, Schmidt spent 25 years in the rail and logistics industry, including 22 years at Union Pacific.
During his time at Union Pacific, he held senior leadership positions across operations, marketing, pricing and sales. He also helped grow the company’s business in intermodal, automotive, industrial, e-commerce, technology and consumer goods markets.
NFI provides intermodal services across North America through direct relationships with all Class I railroads. Its network includes integrated cross-dock facilities, port drayage services and equipment solutions designed to support reliable and cost-effective freight transportation.
The company said Schmidt’s experience will help further develop its intermodal offering and support continued growth across key freight corridors.
